Charlotte QB Kevin Olsen, brother of Greg Olsen, arrested on rape charges

Charlotte quarterback Kevin Olsen, a former Miami player and the brother of Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen, was arrested Sunday on four charges including felony second-degree forcible rape, assault on a female, second-degree forced sex and cyberstalking, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Kevin Olsen, 22, was suspended from the team by coach Brad Lambert, and the school released a statement noting the alleged incident involving Olsen occurred “within an existing relationship.”

A former four-star prospect, Olsen began his career with Miami before a number of legal issues — including a DUI, failed drug test and possession of a fake ID — led to three suspensions and forced a transfer to Towson. He was subsequently dismissed from Towson less than four months after joining the program for what was announced as a violation of team rules. Olsen’s next stop was Riverside Community College, where he played until joining Charlotte in January 2016.

Olsen started the first five games of the 49ers’ season but eventually lost his job. He missed the next six games before seeing action in the Charlotte’s season finale last November.

Greg Olsen, who is 10 years older than Kevin, declined to comment on his brother’s latest legal issue when the Observer reached out to the Panthers.
