Falcons Adrian Clayborn to miss at least a month with knee injury

The Falcons may be without cornerback Desmond Trufant for the rest of the seasonand it appears they will be without another defensive piece for most or all of the regular season.

Defensive end Adrian Clayborn injured his knee during Sunday’s victory over the Cardinals and Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Clayborn tore his MCL and partially tore his meniscus. Per Schefter, surgery is likely and Clayborn is expected to miss at least a month as a result.

Clayborn is second on the team with 4.5 sacks this season, so his absence will be a blow to their pass rush as they try to nail down the NFC South over the next five weeks of the season.

Veteran Dwight Freeney, who has two sacks on the year, will likely be one player that the Falcons look to for help in that area although it will likely take more than one player to fill in for someone who has played around two-thirds of the snaps for Atlanta this season.
