Jaguars defender Dante Fowler Jr arrested on battery, mischief charges
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler Jr, the third pick of the 2015 NFL Draft, was released after posting bond Wednesday following his arrest on battery and mischief charges.
A St. Petersburg, Florida, police report said Fowler, 22, left his car after a man made a comment about his driving. Fowler struck the man, stomped on his glasses and took the man’s grocery bag of alcohol and hurled it into a lake.
Police said the victim was not injured.
“The Jaguars are aware of the situation involving defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. and are currently gathering more information,” the NFL team said in a statement.
“The team has been in communication with Dante. No further comment will be made at this time.”
Fowler missed the 2015 NFL season after tearing left knee ligaments during his first workout with the Jaguars. Last season, Fowler had 32 tackles and four sacks over 16 games as the Jaguars went 3-13.
