After Redskins tight end Jordan Reedinjured the AC joint in his shoulder on Thanksgiving, he said he doesn’t need surgeryand that there wasn’t a danger of making the injury worse by continuing to play in the loss to the Cowboys.
Reed also said that he wasn’t sure whether he would be able to play in Week 13 as a result of the injury and things aren’t looking good on that front. Reed has missed both days of practice this week and Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that he is unlikely to be in the lineup against the Cardinals.
Friday will bring another opportunity for Reed to see if the shoulder is feeling well enough to go through a practice, but he described the injury as “pretty painful” earlier this week and it may be too much to ask for him to go this week.
Reed’s absence would be a blow to the offense as he leads the team in receptions. Vernon Davis has been effective as a receiver, however, and would likely see a larger role if Reed does sit out this weekend.
